Haiti Comfort - Evangelism

When we speak “Revival”, we speak renewal. A revival of true Christianity presupposes a falling away. People are spiritually sluggish. So many things lead their minds away from God and oppose the influence of the Gospel that God must arouse excitement in them until the wave rises so high that it sweeps away all obstacles. Haiti, very much like the US and the rest of the world, is very much in need of this spiritual boost.

We are about preparing “the bride” (or the church, or we Christians) for presentation to the groom. That day is when the Lamb of God, our Lord Jesus Christ, marries the church whereas the members are rewarded for their faithful service, shortly after the Rapture.

Evangelism is, and always has been, our bottom line. It has not always been our priority, especially dealing with the sick kids we have, but we’ve been very stable now for 2 years, especially growing up in the culture. We’ve been blessed that the Lord Has never given us more than we can handle and lately, we’ve had requests to take on more babies and toddlers, but we do not have the room! We started an evangelism program late last year and it has shown big, big dividends, but it too has been curtailed.

Why?

We are hurting financially. We have been struggling for nearly two years, which conincides with the large economic problems for the United States, where all of our support comes from.

What is the most painful is our inability to keep constructing the new facilty. We’ve been at it now for about 44 months, having raised and spent $54,000 of the $80,000 we had originally planned on raising. The new home allows for expansion of a few beds that would be immediately occupied if and when we become financially able. These are for abandoned AIDS children, who are living in substandard conditions, usually not with family. All but two of our children have living parents or have been abandoned. Outside here, they don’t receive the nutritional requisites for normal children, let alone ones suffering from AIDS.

Most importantly, our building has a 2500 sq ft area on the first floor which is a church and school devoted to evangelism. The second floor is “family”. The first few sessions of our evangelistic efforts amounted to a ground swell of activity……..it included our target audience of ages of 40) 6-12 yr olds, a dozen of so teens, who always show up when we do something for a local church and a dozen or so parents. Amongst the children were at least 7 children from active “voudou” families. We are not even half built yet and we have many kids who hang out there. They are there to be constructively engaged with our efforts. We’ve been doing our own church here at home for over two years now and run our evangelistic program much like our church with more emphasis on that session’s bible story and the audio visuals.

Our church at home on Sundays is alive with song, both Kreyol and English Christian music and when we are on the road, our children provide for the good models as they sing and answer Mommas’ questions during her Bible story time. We provide no gimmicks or give aways and the kids continue to show……...and if the money and people where available, we could dig right in with teens and adults. We are not attempting to prostelytize (steal away members) any churches…...what we do is during week afternoons and evenings, but augment Christian teaching and not sermonizing.

Our minds abound int visions on where this can go. Probably the “electricity” we feel is in our bones, but we can’t reach these goals without support. We need people to physically help us as well as financial assistance.

Our primary request is to help us expand the kingdom…..to bring people to Christ. It’s about loading the boat and some feel there isn’t a lot of time. At no time in history have end time prophecies been able to be fulfilled as they can now. We are where we need to be right here and right now. Would you please search your heart to help us.
